Chugach State Park and Management
Bird Valley contains private lands, Chugach State Park, including recreational development, natural, and wilderness zones. A large portion of Bird Valley is, officially, the Bird Creek Regional Park, a tract of land 2,200 acres large that is owned by the Municipality of Anchorage but managed by Chugach State Park. All of the public lands in Bird Valley are managed by the Chugach State Park in a manner consistent with the Chugach State Park Management Plan. Friends of Bird Valley hopes to monitor the park’s management of these lands and provide input into any efforts to develop the valley as dictated by the plan. We are the ones who love and use the valley and we need to have a voice.
