Trails and Maps

This page contains a few maps of the valley that don’t appear in the “CSP and Management” page and will include information about trail conditions. Please contact us with any information that should be here! Below is the State Park’s trail guide to the valley. It’s a bit dated but still good information.

This is a trail map made by Dorn Van Dommelen using the municipality’s LiDAR data (it’s laser-based data - and its availability is limited in Bird Valley) and specialized orienteering mapping software. Most social trails are excluded from this map. Because it’s an orienteering map, vegetation is shown using density symbols. White is open forest and the darker greens are denser and denser. The hatched green areas show undergrowth. Little Xs and Os are junk and signage. Black symbols are rocks. Brown dots are hillocks.
